Keyless entry – with clear access rights, every entry logged
A good access system isn’t modern just because you can open it from your phone. It becomes truly usable when it suits the door and the lock, has a safe backup way to open, makes it clear who can manage users, and lets you block a lost card or an issued guest code within seconds. The same standard applies to intercoms: it identifies the visitor, can open the gate even when you’re not home, its camera can be part of your security system, and it doesn’t lock you into a single manufacturer’s cloud.
MindzenSmart (Mindzen Direct Kft.) is a security systems company registered with the Hungarian police (file number: 01110-822/6574-2/2026.SZv.). We install IP-based and modern two-wire intercom, access control, smart lock and smart handle systems in Budapest and the surrounding area. We build on standard protocols: SIP for intercoms, Wiegand or OSDP between readers and the controller, and ONVIF for door stations with a camera. So a call from the door can be routed to an indoor unit, an IP phone or a mobile app alike, and the reader and controller can later be swapped for another manufacturer’s. On request, the access control we install can be integrated with your alarm system, camera system, smart home or your accommodation’s property management system (PMS). In a family house, the driveway gate and the garage can be part of the same system too.
What problems does it solve?
A well-planned intercom and access control system can help with:
- controlling who can enter where and when – by role and by time window
- doing away with copied keys: a lost fob means a single click, not a lock change
- managing shift-based access rights and keeping an exportable log of entries and exits
- seeing the courier or cleaner at the door and letting them in from the app, wherever you are
- replacing an ageing analogue intercom in an apartment building for which spare parts are no longer available
- time-limited, automatically expiring access for guests, tenants and outside service providers
- letting you manage access rights for several sites from a single interface
- opening the driveway gate and the garage when your number plate is recognised or your phone is nearby
Access control regulates and logs entry, but on its own it cannot provide complete protection. The mechanical strength of the door and the lock mechanism, as well as the alarm system, are just as important parts of your protection.
Good to know: in Hungary, an electronic access control system typically counts as a security system (a simple smart lock or intercom does not necessarily), so it may only be installed and maintained as a service by a security company registered with the police. With us, smart home expertise and security system installation are in one pair of hands.
You can fit a smart lock to your own front door yourself. In an office or apartment building, however, lock selection for doors on escape routes, fire safety regulations and the handling of access log data cannot be left to the settings of a device straight out of the box.

Who is this service for?
- Apartment buildings and property managers where it’s time to replace the analogue intercom – with an indoor unit per apartment, a mobile app or both, from the residents’ meeting decision through to handover in each apartment
- Offices, medical practices and shops that need to control and log who can enter where and when
- Family houses and villas, where the video intercom, smart lock, driveway gate and garage can all work together
- Apartments and guest accommodation, where guests receive a code that expires automatically at the end of their booking, with no key handover
- Companies with several sites that need to manage access rights centrally and keep a log that can be searched site by site
What do we survey?
A site survey isn't just reading out a list of devices. On site, we go through the following:
- The material of the doors and gates, the lock case, the cylinder, the handle, the escutcheon, the opening direction and any multi-point locking
- How reliably the door closes and latches
- Escape routes and fire safety requirements
- In apartment buildings, instrument testing of the existing riser cabling
- PoE power, the network, outdoor protection and uninterruptible power backup
- How calls will be answered in each apartment: wall-mounted indoor unit, mobile app or both
- Access levels, time zones, users, cards and codes
- The log retention period and the documentation of data processing
- For gates, the motor, the controller, the photocell, the safety edge and the requirements for any number plate recognition
- Technical requirements for integration with the alarm, camera system and smart home

What does the service include?
- On-site survey: doors, locks, cabling and network; in apartment buildings, including instrument testing of the riser cabling
- Clarifying the entry process and roles: who grants and revokes access, what expires automatically and who can see the log
- System proposal: door station and reader positions, how calls are answered, lock control for each door, power supply and network
- Itemised quote: equipment list, labour and any licence or service fees shown separately
- Installation and commissioning: door station, readers, controller, locks, indoor units and app access
- Configuration: users, cards, codes, time zones, logging, remote management and gate opening rules
- Testing failure scenarios: backup opening, power cuts and internet outages
- Handover, training and documentation: operating and access-management instructions, setting the log retention period and the required data protection documentation
- Optional next steps: integration with the alarm and camera system, and a maintenance contract with periodic checks of access rights and batteries
Prices
The final price depends mainly on the number of entry points, the mechanical condition of the doors and locks, any locksmith or electrical work that may be needed, the number of users and roles, whether management is local or cloud-based, how complex the intercom and gate opening are, whether the existing cabling can be reused, the integration requirements, and any recurring licence, mobile or service fees.
That's why we always give a tailored quote, matched to the site and your actual needs.
Which brands do we work with – and why?
We look for manufacturers that build on standard protocols, provide long firmware support and, wherever possible, offer local management of access rights for core operation. Which one we choose depends on the door, how it will be used and the existing system.

Access control that works hand in hand with your alarm and smart home
A valid access card can do more than open a door: depending on its permissions, it can also disarm the alarm in that zone. When someone rings, the camera system's image can appear on the indoor panel or the living room display. When the last employee leaves, the system can arm the alarm and switch off the lights.
One important limit always applies: a door opening does not always mean an identified person. That's why we tie critical links to access rights, log them and test them in failure scenarios.
Frequently asked questions
Can a smart lock or smart handle be fitted to any door?
No. Whether it can be fitted depends on the door, the lock case, the cylinder, the handle and the latching together. For a smart handle, the handle-to-cylinder spacing, the opening direction and the type of lock mechanism are decisive. We can pre-screen from a photo, but we only commit to final compatibility after checking the model and the site.
Do you install TTLock-based smart handles too?
Yes. We install fingerprint, code, card and app-based solutions; with a Wi-Fi gateway, codes can be issued remotely, and the system can be linked to a booking system if required. We can also connect an existing compatible handle.
How much does it cost to replace the intercom in an apartment building?
The indicative cost range is HUF 45,000–90,000 gross per apartment, depending on the installation and the chosen way of answering calls. The exact price is determined by the condition of the riser cabling, so after an instrument-based survey we provide a quote you can take to the residents’ meeting.
Can the existing cabling be used for the replacement?
Often, yes: some two-wire systems can also work on the old riser wire pair. We check this with instruments during the survey and record the result in the quote.
Can I answer the door on my mobile too?
Yes. With IP systems, calls from the door can also be routed to a mobile app: you can see the camera image, talk to the visitor and open the gate. In an apartment building, each household can choose whether they want a wall unit, the app or both.
Can you still get in without internet?
Yes. Cards, PIN codes and local Bluetooth opening can work locally, on the controller or the lock, whereas remote opening from the mobile app needs internet. We hand over a documented backup opening method with every system.
What happens during a power cut?
The controller and the lock can run on an uninterruptible power supply. What happens during a power cut depends on the type of lock: a fail-safe lock (opens without power) releases, while a fail-secure lock (locks without power) stays locked. For a door on an escape route, people must still be able to get out in this situation, so we decide door by door during the survey which solution is appropriate.
Which is better: card, PIN, mobile or QR code?
In an office, cards or tags are easy to manage, mobile access is convenient, and guests and service providers can be given a time-limited PIN or QR code. These can be combined within one system.
Does the system log entries?
Yes, the access control system can keep an exportable event log. The log counts as personal data: we set its retention period, and only designated people can access it.
What happens when the battery in a smart lock or smart handle runs flat?
The device must warn you about low battery in good time, and it comes with a documented backup opening method in case the battery runs flat. At handover, we record how often the batteries need changing and who is responsible for it.
Can my existing gate motor be made smart, or do I need a new one?
In most cases it can be made smart. For a pre-screening, a photo of the control board is often enough. We recommend replacement if the mechanics are worn out or the safety components needed for automatic operation are missing.
How secure is number plate-based opening?
It can be fine as a convenience feature, but we never use it on its own to disarm an alarm. The risk can be reduced by combining the number plate with phone proximity and logging each gate opening together with the camera image.
Our existing intercom has broken down – can you repair it?
Yes, we also diagnose and repair existing systems as part of our Operation and service offering. With outdated systems for which spare parts are no longer available, we will tell you if a repair is no longer cost-effective – in that case we will quote for a replacement.
